Piano Pro Camp  -- Happy Birthday, Improv Play, theory and MORE!

Instructor: Jesse Fry

Open to piano students entering 3rd grade and up (with at least one year of previous piano study)

Session I: June 28-July 2 (M-F)

Or Session II: July 12-16 (M-F)

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Cost: $250 per session

Description:

This camp will combine both theory and improvisation to help students grow in their basic pianistic skills and use their skills to find joy in creating music of their own.

During the improvisation side of camp, students will start with a simple melodic or harmonic pattern, and learn to develop that pattern through varied rhythm, texture, and style. With each new layer of variation, these patterns will become an improvisatory masterpiece!

Over the course of this class, students will develop and have at their fingertips contrasting improvisations. They will also gain the confidence to improvise on their own. As a musician, improvisation is one of the most free (fun!) forms of playing the piano.

Students will also work through theory basics that will help prepare them for the upcoming 2021-2022 TMTA Theory Test.

Each class session will conclude with a chill movie time. Six students MAX.

Explore, Discover, Create! Piano Camp is a discovery-based experience that fosters independent learning at the piano. Campers will explore the fundamentals of piano and music in a fun and creative way. Camp sessions will consist of musical based movement, group discovery, small group centers, semi-private lessons, and performance practices that are age appropriate for our campers.  Aural enrichment will include a week-long exploration of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, who is known for his colorful compositions that are filled with imagery and excitement. Campers will enjoy listening and participating in interactive activities as they walk through some of Grieg’s best known works such as March of the Trolls and In the Hall of the Mountain King.

Piano Camp is an ideal preliminary step for traditional one-on-one piano lessons. It is also a great way for current students to review their piano knowledge and continue to build their skills. Six students MAX.

MINI MAKERS: Make and Pop Up Shop!

Instructor: Rachel Yarborough

For students entering 3rd grade and up

Creative kids will love this camp. We will spend all week making various crafty arts -- from accessories, to jewelry, to fiber arts, and sewing basics. The campers will use their creations to assemble a pop-up market table on our front porch on Saturday afternoon (time TBA).

Students will also learn a little bit about pricing and marketing in prep for our pop up shop.

Students will vote on a charity that they would like to donate their proceeds to at the end of the pop up. Six students MAX.
